Information on Becoming an e-Stewards Auditor
The e-Stewards program is an accredited program (ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board, or ANAB: www.anab.org) that involves accredited certification bodies who employ certified auditors to conduct independent third party audits and certification of applicant e-Stewards.
Within this program, auditors who participate are qualified according to requirements set forth in ANAB's Accreditation Rule #33 and ISO 19011, "Guidelines for quality and/or environmental management systems auditing" (www.iso.ch). Briefly, this requires all e-Steward auditors to first be qualified as ISO 14001 auditors.
The requirements for this qualification include:
- Completion of secondary education
- At least 4 years post-secondary education work experience
- At least 2 years work experience in a relevant (environmental) field
- Successful completion of an accredited 40-hour 3rd party audit training course
- Audit experience, including at least 4 complete audits for a total of at least 20 audit days
When the above pre-requisite qualification is met, then e-Stewards Auditor qualification is achieved upon completion of a BAN designated Auditor Training course. This course is now available from BAN's designated training provider, SAI-Global (www.saiglobal.com). For information regarding these trainings click here.
If you are interested in becoming an Internal Auditor or Consultant to the electronics scrap recycling industry, your credentials would be enhanced by attendance at an accredited Internal Auditor training course and/or an EMS System Implementation course (ask SAI Global for information about these programs).
